Darebin Basketball is proud to acknowledge that as a growing Association we have a wealth of support and resources that stretch much further than our local Darebin area. Throughout the vast range of programs and competitions run by the Darebin Basketball Association (DBA), there is a network of elite level resources working in the background to support and drive DBA’s success.

Throughout the most recent school Holiday period, DBA engaged a range of elite level individuals from NBL/NBL1/Youth League Champ players and coaches to run small group workouts and large group appearances.  Individuals such as NBL1 import Dain Swetalla to run an elite skill development camp for our Rep Players, coach Cal Charge from Youth League Champ to run a domestic development camp and South East Melbourne Phoenix guard Owen Foxwell came in and worked with our beginners camp at the grassroot level. These experiences motivate the youth and provide the older players with exposure to elite level mindsets and skill development.

As well as Holiday Programs, throughout the year our major partner, iAthletic, provide the association with a pool of resources with their connection with AUS National teams (Boomers and Opals), to NBL programs for our coaches and player development. Our coaches have been provided small group sit downs, large group courses and one on one conversations with some of the highest level coaches in the country. Such experiences include a recent sit down with Australian 3×3 head coach Dave Biwer on culture and building team mentality.

Darebin Basketball is so much more than just Darebin, as we not only strive for greater opportunities for our members but look to drive a pathway for local talent. With programs and opportunities open for not only the elite, but anyone who walks into the stadium, DBA is proudly growing a great culture and mindset around community inclusion and engagement.
