The Darebin Basketball Association’s junior championship teams play in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), a competition offering keen junior basketballers the opportunity to participate at a more competitive level than that offered in local domestic competitions.

Tryouts for the upcoming 2023/24 season will commence at the start of October with the official dates now released.

ABOUT THE VJBL

The Darebin Basketball Association’s junior championship teams play in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), a competition offering keen junior basketballers the opportunity to participate at a more competitive level than that offered in local domestic competitions.

Each week more than 1200 teams from more than 50 associations participate in the VJBL, which is held on Friday evenings.

The VJBL is arguably the largest competition of its kind, offering a graduated system of junior basketball competition providing opportunities for players to reach their peak, but also to climb the foothills.

There are 3 tiers of competition:

  1. Victorian Junior Championship League (highest level of competition)
  2. Victorian Junior Leagues 1 through 4
  3. Regional Competition – Eastern and North West

The age groups in the VJBL span under 12 to under 20.

Code of Conduct

Darebin Basketball Association (DBA) supports our community by developing basketball players and creating a place for people who are passionate about basketball, to connect with each other. The guidelines below are based on the  Basketball Victoria Code of Conduct which also lists conduct expectations for coaches, officials, referees and committees. They also reflect the principles on which our club is based.

What is Representative Basketball?

Darebin Basketball Association has girls and boys’ teams representing the association in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL). We have a strong development program headed by a Coaching Director and we are looking for eager, talented players of all ages to try out for our teams.

REGISTRATIONS AND TRYOUTS

Registration for the Darebin Phoenix Basketball VJBL rep selection try outs is no closed.

All domestic and representative players were invited to register for the Darebin Phoenix selection trials for the 2023/24 Representative season.

Without completing this form you will not be able to attend the Rep Trials.

If you missed out please email us before 3pm on Saturday 30th at  repreg@darebinbasketball.com.au

COACH AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

The Darebin Association pride ourselves on not only our player development, but coaching opportunities and pathways. Over the course of the year we run a range of coaches clinic, from accredited BV course, to small group sit downs with elite level coaches. Some of the coaches we have had in include NBL Head Coach Mike Kelly and Australian 3×3 Head coach Dave Biwer.

UNIFORMS

All players must wear the approved Darebin Phoenix shorts and singlet during Friday night games. The singlets are reversible. A sizing day will be held following tryouts with purchases to be made on the day.
